With Sungbin’s debut album Opening the Doors with Deux-Elles well underway and its release set for this winter, the guitarist has been exploring new ways to bring his music closer to listeners. As a musician deeply attuned to the emotional voice of the guitar, Sungbin has always prioritised the listener’s experience - that they not only hear his playing, but feel their own connection within it.

The Rosette: a close circle concert was born from this desire for his performances to be more than spectatorial. For Sungbin, a concert is not about distance, but about shared presence and forming a circle of sound, warmth, and connection between performer and audience. The idea behind The Rosette also draws inspiration from the guitar itself. The rosette is the delicate pattern encircling the soundhole which marks the place where the voice of the guitar resonates and sound begins to travel outward. Based on this idea, this series invites audiences to gather close around that centre of sound, as if sitting in a circle on the rosette, around the guitar's sound hole, to listen to and experience music together. This project also serves as a platform for Sungbin to explore fresh ideas and forms of musical flow. In the November series, he envisions the programme as a continuous breath, not a sequence of individual works, but one connected musical journey. Beginning with Morel and ending with Tansman, the recital weaves through Weiss, York, Coste, and Assad, forming a seamless arc of sound and expression.

Through The Rosette, Sungbin hopes to introduce himself more personally as an artist and to share moments of sincerity that can only exist in live performance. Above all, he hopes that The Rosette will offer audiences a space to feel closer to the guitar, to him, and to the music itself. The November series marks the beginning of a visionary journey that Sungbin hopes The Rosette will continue to grow into.
Now, with excitement and anticipation, Sungbin is preparing to share these moments of music and connection with audiences. This November, The Rosette will visit four cities across the UK. Sungbin warmly invites you to join him in these musical gatherings — to be part of the circle of music.
